Today, I received my personal copy from Amazon.com of my brother-in-law's newly published collection of poetry. Pride flowed through me as I held the slick covered chapbook, adorned with an appropriate picture of red sunbaked earth from a dried up river bottom, and filled with his powerful words. The new collection, Breaking Ground by Kevin Heaton ISBN 13-978-0-9832463-2-9, will certainly break new ground in the world of contemporary poetry. Kevin is attuned to nature as he leads you through a range of seasons, weather, history, etc. Expect to have your mind stimulated by memories, shared experiences, thought provoking subjects, and even visually enhanced by his well chosen images and two artistic shape poems. Anyone, who lived in Mannford, OK when the tornado struck in 1984, will be awestruck by "Aeolus' Vengeance" on page 25.
